Dennis Cox and Clark Norton receive national recognition through the INDEPENDENT PRESS AWARD

Ann Arbor, Michigan -- The INDEPENDENT PRESS AWARD recognized Cruising the World: From Gondolas to Megaships with photography by Dennis Cox and text by Clark Norton in the category of Coffee Table Book as a Winner.

The competition is judged by experts from different aspects of the book industry, including publishers, writers, editors, book cover designers and professional copywriters. Selected award winners and distinguished favorites are based on overall excellence.

Cruising the World: From Gondolas to Megaships is an in-depth 208-page, 9.5” x 12” full-color hardcover coffee table book featuring 535 photos depicting 37 varieties of cruise vessels representing 77 countries on all seven continents. From modern-day megaships to such timeless vessels as Venetian gondolas, Arabian dhows, and Asian sampans, award-winning travel photographer Dennis Cox and veteran cruise writer Clark Norton have drawn on their decades of cruising experience to take readers on a memorable and fascinating journey aboard ocean-and sea-going, river, lake, and canal boats around the world.

In 2021, the INDEPENDENT PRESS AWARD had entries worldwide. Participating authors and publishers reside in countries such as Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and others. In addition, books submitted included writers located in U.S. cities such as Atlanta to Santa Fe; Chicago to New York; from Boise to Honolulu, and others.
